Guess what?
You don’t have to niche down your content to build a community and grow your business.
But here’s the thing… Niching down DOES work. Especially in the beginning. You have clear messaging and people who find you know exactly what you talk about. Which is why you should niche your BUSINESS. Your content on the other hand doesn’t always have to be about your niche.
Niche content can get boring, for you and your people. You probably like talking about LOTS of different things (like me with Taylor Swift and my dog).
I have seen A LOT of people not even start because they can’t pick a niche (this has soooo been me). And while they want to get started on their dream business, what they get is analysis paralysis.
You know what you could do INSTEAD?
- Talk about YOUR takes, lessons, experiences.
- Post about things YOU love outside of your business. You’re still a human.
- Don’t be forceful in what you share. If it doesn’t feel good, don’t post it just because you think you have to.
Let’s say your niche is solo travel but you also love makeup. A perfect way to add makeup into your content would be something like “travel makeup routine” or “the makeup products I’d never travel without”. There’s ways to naturally blend in other things you love talking about without confusing your audience.
Lean into all the things that make you, you. Don’t forget to be strategic though!
